POSITION TITLE:
School Based Social Worker (SBSW) or Licensed Social Worker
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS REQUIRED:
Licensed Social Worker or School Based Social Worker Certificate
REPORTS TO: Director of ECLC
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
- Be actively involved in in PBIS (Positive Behavioral Interventions Supports)
- Attends Tier 1, Tier 2 and 3 meetings on students as needed
- When students are referred through the Tier 2 and 3 data team or problem solving process, the therapist will assess the referral information and determine the need for therapy, the type and the intervention
- Works with Tier 2 and 3 students with identified needs with trauma, social skills, behaviors or social skills
- Provide PBIS Training as needed to staff
- Implement research based therapy in relation to trauma, social skills, behavior or emotional issues
- Provide information and observational data for special education referrals if needed
- Conduct and attend evaluation and IEP meetings
- Conduct Social Histories
- Evaluates children’s needs and determine referral for social services through personal and collateral interviews
- Work with families in helping families identify needs and supports
- Refer families to agencies that provide the type of services and supports a family needs
- Conduct home visits
- Provides consultation and works collaboratively with school staff and agencies
- Keeps data on therapy sessions with individual students
- Travel offsite to centers/home as needed
- Be trained and use SCM procedure if a restraint is needed for the safety of the student or others and document the incident and/or restraint per district guidelines
- Assist in change and development of programs
OTHER JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Maintain confidentiality
- Use effective communication and conflict resolution to resolve difference and to problem solve
- Withstand pressure and remain calm in crisis or conflict situations, changing conditions within the job and schedule changes
- Participation in professional growth and professional development
- Assume professional responsibilities outside of school setting such as committees, inservices, conferences, and speaking engagements
- Operate a computer and a variety of IEP and instructional computer programs
- Assume non academic responsibilities outside of the classroom as assigned by the building principal such as lunch/breakfast duty, or bus duty
- Perform physical tasks such as lifting, transferring a student up to 50 lbs
- Other duties as assigned. This does not preclude the assignment of additional or supplemental duties. The District reserves the right to modify the assignment as needed to reflect such duties
