POSITION TITLE:    Adult Agriculture Instructor

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS REQUIRED: 

Minimum B.S. degree in Agriculture Education with Secondary Agriculture

Education Certification

 

REPORTS TO:   Director of the Kirksville Area Technical Center

 

LENGTH OF CONTRACT:   Twelve (12) months; Hourly

 

JOB GOAL:

* Improve the quality of Agriculture education instruction, counseling, management, and leadership to produce success for all farmers in the community.

* Assume a responsible role in public and professional relations by actively participating in civic, professional, agricultural and other community organizations.

* Maintain professional and personal ethics in dealing with students, parents, community leaders, etc.

* Provide local farmers with the knowledge and skills necessary to compete in a global economy by providing educational and equitable experiences leading to continued education and farm management.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES: 

* To serve as a facilitator for Adult Agriculture Education programs.

* To work with Young Farmers organization in developing programs which will be beneficial to the agricultural community.

* To work with individuals in the Farm Business Management Analysis program in developing and interpreting records.

* To make on-site visits with adults in Agriculture to evaluate, and suggest management decisions.

* To attend District, State, and National workshops and seminars, and keep up-to-date on pertinent topics.

* To provide and encourage leadership development for the agricultural community.

* Specific breakdown of duties requirement as suggested by the State for

1⁄2 time adult program.

 

OTHER JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

* Teach 2-hour Post-Secondary Agriculture classes

* Have enrolled 5 Farm Business Management Analysis participants

* Provide 145 hours group instruction

* Provide 415 hours of individual instruction (farm visits)

* Provide 85 hours Young Farmers opportunities

* Other duties as assigned.  This does not preclude the assignment of additional or supplemental

   duties.  The District reserves the right to modify the assignment as needed to reflect such duties. 

 

ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL AND MENTAL DEMANDS:

* Duties performed typically in district settings to include the cafeteria, gym, recreational areas

   and other assigned areas.

* Physical demands can include but are not limited to:  Exerts up to 40 lbs. of force occasionally,

   and/or up to 20 lbs. of force frequently, and/or up to 10 lbs. of force constantly to move objects

   including items such as shipped packages.

* Frequent walking, standing, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling,

   reaching, and other limited physical activities are required.

* Mental demands can include but are not limited to:  Comparing, copying, computing,

   compiling, analyzing, coordinating, and synthesizing.
