POSITION TITLE: 6th – 8th At-Risk Teacher
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS REQUIRED:
*Bachelor’s Degree
*Demonstrated ability to work effectively and collaboratively with staff
EXPERIENCE REQUIRED/PREFERRED:
- Preferred experience with restorative practices
- Preferred experience working with at-risk students in an alternative education setting

CONTRACT DAYS WORKED: 180 Days
JOB GOAL:
We are seeking a highly motivated and dedicated teacher to work with at-risk students in the middle school grades (6-8). The ideal candidate will have experience in behavior management, academic instruction, social-emotional learning and skills development, restorative practices, and coordination with outside agencies to support student success. The teacher will also collaborate with staff, communicate with parents regularly, and work closely with administration, counselors and school social worker to ensure that each student reaches their full potential.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide individualized instruction to at-risk students with a focus on behavior management, academics, and social skills
- Provide in-seat instruction for core classes with a combination of online instruction
- Facilitate restorative practices with students to increase positive behaviors
- Facilitate a social emotional learning curriculum
- Make data informed decisions and monitor student progress and attendance in order to make any necessary adjustments to student schedules and academic needs on a regular basis in coordination with counselors and administration
- Monitor students’ academic progress and work with students to set/meet learning goals
- Collaborate with the process coordinator, case managers, school social worker, counselors and administration to create behavior improvement plans and schedules to help students be successful including behavior contracts
- Communicate regularly with parents to keep them informed of their child's progress academically and behaviorally
- Provide accommodations to students with IEPs and 504s
- Maintain a positive, safe and supportive learning environment to build positive relationships with all students
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Wage and work calendar to be established by the Board of Education.
EVALUATION: Performance of this position will be evaluated in accordance with the
provisions of the Board’s Policy on Evaluation of Professional Personnel.

ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL AND MENTAL DEMANDS:
* Duties performed typically in district settings to include the cafeteria, gym, recreational areas and other assigned areas.
* Physical demands can include but are not limited to: Exerts up to 40 lbs. of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 lbs. of force frequently, and/or up to 10 lbs. of force constantly to move objects including equipment such as audio-visual.
* Frequent walking, standing, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, and other limited physical activities are required.
* Mental demands can include but are not limited to: Comparing, copying, computing,
compiling, analyzing, coordinating, and synthesizing.
