High School Assistant Principal
Length of Contract: 210-220 Days
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS REQUIRED:
*Valid Missouri K-12 School Leader Certification or path to certification
*Master’s Degree in the appropriate field of study
EXPERIENCE PREFERRED:
*Administrative experience
*Job related experience with increasing levels of responsibility
Purpose:
The job of Assistant Principal is to provide support to the instructional process and culture of the school. Duties consist of directing school site programs and services, providing information and serving as a resource to others, supervising assigned staff, coordinating and supervising school activities and addressing issues and problems associated with enrolled students.
Reports To:
This position reports to the building Principal and assumes the role of the Principal in the event of his/her absence.
Essential Functions:
- Collaborates for the purpose of providing a positive learning environment for students.
- Complies data for the purpose of analyzing issues, ensuring compliance with district policies and procedures as well as state mandates.
- Facilitates communication among personnel, students, and parents for the purpose of evaluating situations and resolving problems or conflicts
- Intervenes on matters of student discipline for the purpose of modifying behavior and issues consequences and logs journal entries of discipline issues.
- Works with School Resource Officer and Juvenile Officer on student issues that require law enforcement intervention.
- Monitors and is responsible for reporting student attendance.
- Secures and assigns substitute teachers and support staff.
- Assists in the evaluation of certified and support staff as outlined by district goals.
- Supervises extra-curricular activities and athletic events, both home and away, as assigned.
- Conducts safety drills as the designated building safety coordinator.
- Oversees the general maintenance staff of the building in coordination with the district director of facilities.
- Performs other related duties as assigned for the purpose of ensuring the safe and efficient operations of the high school.

- Work independently under broad organizational guidelines to achieve building objectives and to support the district and building mission and vision.
Terms of Employment: Wage and work calendar to be established by the Board of Education.
Evaluation: Performance of this position will be evaluated in accordance with the
provisions of the Board’s Policy on Evaluation of Professional Personnel.
OTHER JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
* Other duties as assigned. This does not preclude the assignment of additional or supplemental duties. The District reserves the right to modify the assignment as needed to reflect such duties.
* Supervises classroom, students, aides, volunteers, and areas as assigned.
ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL AND MENTAL DEMANDS:
* Duties performed typically in district settings to include the cafeteria, gym, recreational areas and other assigned areas.
* Physical demands can include but are not limited to: Exerts up to 40 lbs. of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 lbs. of force frequently, and/or up to 10 lbs. of force constantly to move objects including equipment such as audio-visual.
* Frequent walking, standing, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, and other limited physical activities are required.
* Mental demands can include but are not limited to: Comparing, copying, computing,
compiling, analyzing, coordinating, and synthesizing.
